The Hamilton County Jail strives to provide high-quality confinement services in a safe and humane environment. The jail has recently taken on the task of achieving national accreditation from the American Correctional Association. The Accreditation Manager monitors policies and procedures, operational practices, vulnerability assessments, Tennessee Corrections Institute (TCI) standards, American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, and National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC) standards to obtain and maintain compliance.
The Accreditation Manager prepares and supervises the implementation of a work plan for accomplishing tasks required to achieve and maintain accreditation. He/she also provides input in the development and revision of accreditation policies and procedures and the standards.
The Accreditation Manager arranges and coordinates visits to the agency by auditors, prepares and submits correspondence within designated time frames including final organization and preparation of the self-evaluation report, sections of the visiting committee report, annual certification reports, and other documents, and represents the agency at the accreditation hearings.
Achieving and maintaining national accreditation is a group effort and requires support of the entire department.
